A very warm welcome to Dormston School. I hope you and your families are well.
The first day back at school in September (Tuesday 2nd September 2025) we will be holding a special Year 7 Induction where school will only be open to Year 7 only. Children should arrive at Dormston for 8.40am and enter through the atrium doors at the main entrance where they will be met by staff. The school day will end at 3.10pm. On this day, Year 7 will spend time with key staff and peer mentors and will be involved in activities where they can continue to get to know their form group. Students will need to bring their bag, equipment, drink and healthy snack for break.
For pupils with a reg group ending X their first introduction to PE lessons will take place on this day but they will only need trainers in their bag, not their full PE kit. Pupils will need their full PE kit on Wednesday 10 September for their first full PE lesson.
For pupils with a reg group ending Y they will not need their PE kit on this day. Pupils will need their full PE kit on Thursday 4 September for their first full PE lesson.
Your child should have received a letter providing full details on their second day of transition.
Please find below further information which we hope will help answer most of your questions as we aim to allay any worries or concerns.
Summer Reading Challenge
Your child received a Summer Reading Challenge 2025 log during the Induction days. We would like them to record in this log all the books they read in full during the summer break. They may write book reviews or record their thoughts about the books too. Full details are on the back of the Summer Reading Log.
