It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Dormston School.
Our aim is to provide the very best learning and personal development opportunities for every young person in the community that we serve. Our teaching and support staff are highly qualified, very skilled, and together share the strongest dedication to ensuring that all our pupils are safe, wholeheartedly enjoy their learning, and achieve their full potential. My priority as Headteacher is for every student to enjoy excellent teaching and pastoral support, to be valued and respected as an individual, and to play a full and active part in school life.
We strive to nurture an appropriately challenging, but caring and supportive atmosphere in which each student is encouraged to make the right choice, to develop self-discipline, self-confidence and self-reliance. Whilst forward-facing, we also hold onto the best bits from the past. We are traditional when it comes to discipline, courtesy and good manners and expect every pupil to conduct themselves with the upmost respect for themselves and others.
Our partnership with parents and carers is very important to us, and we will work closely with you throughout your child’s time with us to nurture their aspirations, their learning and their achievement. Prospective students and their families are very welcome to come and see us in action during the school day.
I am immensely proud to work with so many supportive governors, dedicated staff and fantastic young people. It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of Dormston School.
