Catering

Here at Dormston we offer students a variety of both hot and cold options. We have our own in house catering team who are always working to create healthy, balanced choices that students love.

We offer a breakfast, break time and lunchtime service out of our four outlets (breakfast available from the River Cafe only).

• The River Cafe – our formal school canteen offering more traditional plated meal options as well as jacket potatoes, sandwiches, wraps, baguettes, salad boxes, fruit pots, cookies and cakes.
• The Asto Pod and Quad Pod – serving grab and go style options such as pasta and sauce, chilli and rice, curry, fish and chips as well as a selection of sandwiches, wraps, baguettes, salad boxes, fruit pots, cookies and cakes.
• Year 11 Café – this area is exclusively for our Year 11 students to use serving a selection of food similar to our outdoor pods as well as the option for hot drinks during lunchtime.

At breakfast we offer cereals, toast, hash browns and a selection of fruit to help our students prepare for the day. At break times we offer a selection of toast, sausage/bacon muffins , hash browns, pastries alongside other options.

The menu is updated seasonally and we also offer specials throughout the school year to celebrate significant events and celebrations.

As with all aspects of our school the student’s health and well being is at the core of what we do. You will find below up to date information on allergens for any of our hot options and all of our pre-packed foods are individually labelled with allergen information so that students are aware of their choices. Payment

WE OPERATE A CASHLESS SYSTEM. We do not accept cash payments in any of our food outlets. All students will be linked with either their own personal finger print identifier or individual ID card to allow them to access their money via tills and ParentPay. Parents/Carers can load money on to their child’s account via ParentPay. We will never refuse to provide a child with a school lunch. If their account has insufficient funds they will have an overdraft facility of £2.50. Parents/carers will receive a text that day to let them know that the account needs to be topped up before they can purchase more food at school. Free squash is available for all students in the River Café.

Pricing Information

Please see below details of our pricing for food at Dormston from September 2023. Please note that the £2.50 meal deal includes a main meal (hot counter/sandwich/baguette) and a home bake, yogurt or fruit pot. This is the free school meal entitlement. Squash is free to all students and available in the River Café. All bottled drinks are at an additional charge.
